About us

The Portrait Studio is a family owned photography business with over 75 years of photographic experience. Located off HWY 98 in the heart of Destin, the full service studio offers everything from studio sessions to beach shoots, executive portraits to pet portraits, and even your childs first baby portraits to your teens senior portraits. The Portrait Studio is also known for its commercial work, including recent work for Emerald Coast Coffee, Cayo Grande Apartments and First National Bank and Trust.

Cathy Catanese opened the studio in 2007 alongside her parents, Neil and Carol Hooker. Neil and Carol have spent the past 40 years creating beautiful photographs throughout the southeast. After spending time gaining experience from her parents, Cathy began creating her own photography, with a lot of hand touched, fine art images and built that into the full time business run daily by the family. This past summer the studio made an addition to the office by welcoming Megan Tutin, a local, recent college graduate with a BFA in Photography from the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Megan brings a fresh approach to the studio.

The Portrait Studio is a member of the Northwest-Florida Professional Photographers(NWFPP), Florida Professional Photographers (FPP), and Professional Photographers of America(PPA). Cathy is on the board of directors for the NWFPP.
